Reverse logistics of electronic waste in Brazil: a bibliometric study

Authors

Abstract

The advanced logistics of the electronics industry has been constantly evolving, in line with the numerous existing device manufacturers. Third-party logistics companies are increasingly focused on the logistics of already manufactured devices and their subsequent stages. The objective of this study is to examine the current status of reverse logistics in the electronics industry, particularly regarding the waste generated throughout the production and usage chain, highlighting its importance, challenges, and future prospects. A qualitative approach is used as the primary research method to illustrate and present the perspectives identified in the study. It was found that reverse logistics can add significant value to enterprises and help build a positive corporate reputation. However, the current reverse logistics system is not yet sufficiently mature, indicating considerable room for improvement. In this context, companies can establish environmental policies and regulations specific to the electronics sector to reinforce the relevance and integration of reverse logistics within industry practices.
