Environmental justice and the reach of the constitutional existential minimum: The social dimension of human dignity within the Nova Canaã residential area

Abstract

The implementation of large enterprises under the justification of increased economic growth ends up refuting the environmental and social injustices that arise from them that affect certain populations. Thus, this article seeks to analyze, from the perspective of the community Vila Residencial Nova Canãa, the environmental social consequences that infringe Basic rights essential to the achievement of a dignified life, resulting from the implementation of the Thermoelectric Plant of the Port of Itaqui. Based on a bibliographic review of works and documents, in addition to the environmental injustices at the time of implementation, the various violations of rights suffered by the community after the implementation of the plant that make it difficult to achieve the minimum existential constitutional. The violations to the basic fundamental and social rights were perceived, showing the fragility of certain communities in the face of the realization of the constitutional minimum existential and the neglect of public agents before these people who are neither heard. Thus, education, health, transport, leisure among other basic rights are extremely limited.
